Have you registered with CARB yet? Let us help you!

The deadline to register is August 1, 2011

The California Air Resources Board in 2008 adopted a new regulation to reduce greenhouse gaz emissions by improving fuel efficiency of 53-foot or longer box-type trailers, including both dry-van and refrigerated-van trailers operating in California and the heavy-duty tractors that pull them.

The regulation provides large fleets with the option to either bring all pre-2011 model year trailers into compliance with the requirements of the regulation by July 1st, 2013 or to adopt the phase-in compliance plan over a period of 5 years with the condition that fleets first register with CARB by August 1, 2011.

With the regulation in place and its compliance, CARB has estimated 33 million metric tons of CO2 emissions nationwide reduction between 2010 to 2020.

CARB reinforces that fleet owners can expect a return on their investment for trailer skirts, tires and fairings within 2.3 years if they travel 100,000 miles per year - representing savings of 3 billion gallons of diesel nationwide.

Here is CARB's compliance plan and instructions to register.
