Transtex works with customers in designing tailor made solutions bringing together our know-how with reinforced thermoplastics composite materials and problems within the transportation industry. Our engineers work closely with our sister companies’ engineers as well as our clients’ engineers to conceive lightweight and highly resistant products. Transtex has access to the best the industry can offer regarding R&D and testing facilities. At the end of the day, our solutions save money and development costs are reduced to a minimum.
Here are some examples of recent projects:
Military- Canadian Department of National Defence
Norduyn and Transtex teamed up to develop a unique lightweight, foldable, heli-portable container using the very same materials Transtex proposes to the transportation industry like our ULT trailer doors.
After conducting abusive testing, including a 9 G drop test, Norduyn and Transtex were awarded on January 12, 2009 a 6 million dollar contract to supply the Canadian Armed Forces with those containers.
Transtex know-how with composite materials made this project possible.
World-renown international freight forwarder
A large parcel and international freight forwarder had Transtex develop a foldable panel for use inside its trailers. The client was seeking a way to reduce the weight of these foldable panels while increasing their resistance to impact. Breakage was a problem with conventional materials. The solution developed by Transtex was tested and has shown to shave 40 % off the weight compared to existing panels. The solution was developed for a client with a demand for 70 000 panels per year. The panels proposed where comparable to our ULT composite door material.
Marine industry
A specialty manufacturer of floating docks asked Transtex to develop a sturdy and lightweight panel that could be used in the manufacturing of lightweight floating docks. Reinforced thermoplastics composite materials were a solution for that client.
